What is $25 an hour annually in Canada?
At $25 an hour, a full-time job of 40 hours a week for 52 paid weeks is $52,000 a year before tax. That is about $4,333 a month or $2,000 every two weeks. At 37.5 hours a week, $25 an hour is $48,750 a year. This hourly to salary calculator works out any rate, schedule and currency.
How the hourly to salary calculator works
The hourly to salary calculator multiplies three numbers: your hourly rate, the hours you work each week and the number of weeks you are paid for in a year. The result is your gross annual salary, which is your pay before income tax, CPP, EI and other deductions.
It then divides that annual figure into the pay periods people actually budget with: monthly (divided by 12), bi-weekly (divided by 26) and weekly (divided by 52).
- Hourly rate: your base pay per hour, before tax. Leave out tips and overtime unless they are regular.
- Hours per week: 40 is the default. Many office jobs in Canada are 37.5 hours, and part-time roles vary.
- Paid weeks per year: 52 if you are paid for vacation and holidays, or fewer if unpaid time off reduces your earnings.
The calculator shows gross pay. It works in any currency, because the maths does not change.

What is $25 an hour after tax?
The $52,000 figure is gross pay. Your take-home pay is lower, because income tax, CPP contributions and EI premiums come off every paycheque. How much depends on your province, your credits and any RRSP or pension contributions.
To go from gross to net, enter the annual salary from this calculator into the income tax calculator, which applies federal and provincial brackets, CPP and EI. The paycheque calculator shows the same result per pay period.
How to convert hourly wage to annual salary by hand
You do not need a calculator for a rough answer. For a 40-hour week, double your hourly rate and add three zeros. $25 becomes $50,000, which is close to the exact $52,000. The shortcut works because a full-time year is about 2,000 working hours.
- Multiply your hourly rate by your weekly hours to get weekly pay. $25 × 40 = $1,000.
- Multiply weekly pay by the weeks you are paid. $1,000 × 52 = $52,000.
- Divide by 12 for monthly pay ($4,333) or by 26 for bi-weekly pay ($2,000).
- Subtract unpaid weeks if you take unpaid time off. Two unpaid weeks at $1,000 means $50,000.
Going the other way? The salary to hourly calculator turns an annual offer into an hourly rate, which is useful when comparing a salaried job with a contract.
Vacation, holidays and overtime
Whether you use 52 weeks or fewer depends on how your time off is paid. Most full-time salaried employees are paid for vacation and statutory holidays, so 52 is right.
Hourly employees are often paid vacation pay as a percentage of earnings instead. Under the federal Canada Labour Code, employees get at least two weeks of vacation, or 4% vacation pay, after one year, rising with years of service. Provinces set their own minimums for provincially regulated jobs, so check your province's employment standards.
Overtime is not included in the calculator. Rules on when overtime starts and what it pays vary by province and industry. If you regularly work overtime, add it separately: multiply your overtime hours by your overtime rate and add the result to your annual total.
Budgeting on an hourly wage
Hourly pay can change from week to week as shifts change. Budget from a conservative month, such as your lowest month in the last six, and treat anything above it as a bonus for savings or debt.
EMOH Pay helps with this. Log your pay as it arrives, set budgets with overspend alerts, and see reports on how income and spending compare month to month.
