How to use the Manitoba salary calculator

The Manitoba salary calculator turns a gross annual salary into take-home pay for a resident employee. It applies the 2026 federal brackets, Manitoba's three provincial brackets, Canada Pension Plan contributions and Employment Insurance premiums, then shows the result per month, pay period or year.

It is built on the same engine as our Canada income tax calculator, which covers every province. Use this page when you only care about Manitoba and want the local detail alongside the numbers.

  1. Annual gross salary. Enter your salary before any deductions. For hourly work, multiply your rate by your usual weekly hours and by 52.
  2. RRSP contributions (optional). Add what you plan to put into an RRSP this year. It lowers taxable income, so your tax falls but CPP and EI stay the same.
  3. Show take-home pay per. Choose monthly, semi-monthly, bi-weekly, weekly or annual to match how your employer pays you.

The estimate assumes only the basic personal amount and the CPP and EI credits. Real paycheques can be slightly higher because of the Canada employment amount, or lower because of benefits, pension plans and union dues deducted at work.

Manitoba tax brackets and what changed recently

Manitoba taxes income in three brackets. Manitoba's 2024 budget raised the basic personal amount to $15,780 and then froze both that amount and the bracket thresholds from 2025, rather than raising them with inflation each year. Confirm the 2026 thresholds with the Province of Manitoba before relying on them.

Manitoba provincial income tax brackets as set in the 2024 budget and held for 2025. Federal tax is charged on top.
Taxable incomeManitoba rate
Up to $47,00010.8%
$47,000 to $100,00012.75%
Over $100,00017.4%

Two details matter for higher earners. From 2025, Manitoba phases out the basic personal amount for net income between about $200,000 and $400,000. And because the thresholds no longer rise with inflation, a raise that only keeps pace with prices can push a little more of your income into a higher bracket over time. Our guide to tax brackets in Canada explains how federal and provincial layers combine.

Take-home pay in Manitoba at common salaries

Take-home pay in Manitoba rises steadily with salary, but the share you keep falls as more income reaches the 12.75% and 17.4% brackets. These estimates use 2026 federal rates and the calculator's Manitoba settings for an employee with no RRSP contribution.

How does Manitoba take-home pay compare with other provinces?

Manitoba keeps a little less of a typical salary than Ontario, Alberta or British Columbia, and a little more than Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island. On $75,000, the gap between Manitoba and Alberta is roughly $2,300 a year, mostly because Manitoba's lowest rate starts higher and its basic personal amount is smaller.

Income tax is only part of the picture. Manitoba's rents are moderate by national standards, as our cost of living in Winnipeg guide shows, and that can matter more to your monthly budget than a few hundred dollars of tax. Neighbouring Saskatchewan is covered in our Saskatchewan salary calculator.

Ways to keep more of your pay in Manitoba

  • Contribute to an RRSP. On a $75,000 salary your combined marginal rate is about 33%, so a $5,000 contribution cuts tax by roughly $1,650. Try our RRSP calculator.
  • Open an FHSA if you are saving for a first home. Contributions of up to $8,000 a year are deductible like an RRSP.
  • Claim what you are owed. Child-care costs, union dues, moving expenses for a new job and medical expenses all reduce tax.
  • Check Manitoba credits. The province offers credits for renters and homeowners, claimed on your tax return. Check the Province of Manitoba for the current amounts.
  • Mind the sales tax. Most purchases carry 7% Manitoba RST plus 5% GST, so a $1,000 purchase really costs about $1,120.

Turning your Manitoba take-home pay into a budget

Once you know your monthly take-home pay, split it into needs, wants and savings. A simple starting point is the 50/30/20 approach, adjusted for Manitoba's winter heating costs and any car you rely on. Our guide to budgeting in Manitoba covers provincial costs in more detail.

FAQ

Manitoba Salary Calculator 2026: frequently asked questions

How much is $60,000 a year after tax in Manitoba?

About $45,600 a year, or roughly $3,800 a month, in 2026 for an employee with no RRSP contribution. That is after federal tax, Manitoba tax, CPP and EI.

What is the Manitoba basic personal amount?

Manitoba set its basic personal amount at $15,780 in 2024 and froze it from 2025 instead of indexing it. It is phased out for net income between about $200,000 and $400,000. Confirm the current figure with the Province of Manitoba.

Does the calculator include CPP and EI?

Yes. It deducts 2026 CPP contributions, including the second tier on earnings between $74,600 and $85,000, and EI premiums of 1.63% up to $68,900 of insurable earnings.

Why is my paycheque different from the calculator?

Employers also deduct workplace pension contributions, benefits premiums and union dues, and payroll tables spread tax evenly across the year. The Canada employment amount can also make your actual tax slightly lower.

What is the sales tax in Manitoba?

Manitoba charges 7% retail sales tax (RST) on most goods and many services, on top of the 5% federal GST, for a combined 12% on most purchases.
