When does CPP get paid this month?
CPP is paid once a month, in the last week of the month. September's payment went out on Friday 25 September 2026, and the next one is Wednesday 28 October 2026. November's payment is Thursday 26 November and December's comes early, on Tuesday 22 December. Always confirm on the Government of Canada benefit payment calendar.
CPP payment dates 2026
The CPP payment dates 2026 below are the dates published by Service Canada for the Canada Pension Plan retirement pension and for CPP disability, survivor and children's benefits. All CPP benefits are paid on the same day each month, so you only need one calendar.
| Month | Payment date |
|---|---|
| January | Wednesday 28 January 2026 |
| February | Wednesday 25 February 2026 |
| March | Friday 27 March 2026 |
| April | Tuesday 28 April 2026 |
| May | Wednesday 27 May 2026 |
| June | Friday 26 June 2026 |
| July | Wednesday 29 July 2026 |
| August | Thursday 27 August 2026 |
| September | Friday 25 September 2026 |
| October | Wednesday 28 October 2026 |
| November | Thursday 26 November 2026 |
| December | Tuesday 22 December 2026 |
Direct deposit usually lands on the date shown. A mailed cheque can take several extra days, which is one reason Service Canada encourages direct deposit.
When is CPP paid, and why the date moves each month
CPP is paid in the last week of each month, usually about three business days before the month ends. The exact day moves because weekends and federal holidays shift it. December is the exception: the payment goes out a few days before Christmas so it arrives ahead of the holiday closures.
Each payment covers the month it is paid in. Your October 2026 deposit is your October pension, not a payment for September. That matters when you start CPP: if your pension begins in a given month, the first deposit arrives near the end of that same month.
The pattern has held for years. In 2025, for example, payments went out on 29 January, 26 February and 27 March, following the same late-month rhythm. Still, treat the official calendar as the final word, because Service Canada sets the dates each year.
How much CPP will you get in 2026?
Most people get less than the maximum. For a pension starting at 65 in January 2026, the maximum is $1,507.65 a month. The average for new retirement pensions in July 2026 was about $858 a month, according to Service Canada. Your amount depends on how long you contributed, how much you earned and the age you start.
Starting early or late changes your payment permanently. The pension is reduced by 0.6% for each month you start before 65, up to 36% at 60, and increased by 0.7% for each month you delay after 65, up to 42% at 70. Our CPP retirement calculator shows how the start age affects your own estimate.
| Start age | Adjustment | Monthly pension |
|---|---|---|
| 60 | 36% lower | $640 |
| 62 | 21.6% lower | $784 |
| 65 | No change | $1,000 |
| 68 | 25.2% higher | $1,252 |
| 70 | 42% higher | $1,420 |

What to do if your CPP payment is late
Wait five to 10 business days after the scheduled date before contacting Service Canada. Payments are issued on the dates listed but can take a few days to reach some accounts, and mailed cheques take longer. After that, work through these checks.
- Sign in to My Service Canada Account and check whether the payment was issued, and for how much.
- Confirm your direct deposit details and mailing address are current. Old banking information is a common cause of missing payments.
- Check whether anything changed recently, such as a move abroad, a new account or a change to your benefit.
- Call Service Canada's CPP line if the payment still has not arrived. Have your Social Insurance Number ready.
Budgeting around a monthly CPP payment
Because CPP arrives near the end of the month, rent or mortgage payments due on the 1st are covered by money that landed only days earlier. Many retirees move the month's fixed bills into a separate account on payment day so the rest can be spent without worry.
CPP is taxable income. No tax is withheld unless you ask, so a retiree with a workplace pension or RRIF income can face a balance owing in April. You can request a voluntary tax deduction through My Service Canada Account, and you will receive a T4A(P) slip each winter for your return.
EMOH Pay's bill tracking lists each fixed bill with its due date next to your expected pension deposits, so you can see at a glance which bills each payment has to cover. If you earn a little self-employed income in retirement, our GST/HST expense tracker keeps sales tax separate from your household budget, and the retirement budget app page explains how to plan monthly spending on a fixed income.
Other benefit dates to know in 2026
Old Age Security is paid on the same day as CPP, so most retirees receive both deposits together. See our OAS payment dates page for the OAS schedule and amounts, and GIS payment dates if you receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement.
The GST/HST credit arrives quarterly around the 5th of January, April, July and October; see GST/HST credit payment dates. Many of these benefits depend on filing a return each year, so keep the tax filing deadline in your calendar too. With EMOH Pro's bank sync for Canadian banks, pension deposits appear in EMOH Pay automatically, so a missing payment is easy to spot.

Is CPP paid on the same day every month?
No. CPP is paid in the last week of the month, and the exact day moves with weekends and holidays. December's payment comes earlier, on 22 December in 2026.
Are CPP and OAS paid on the same day?
Yes. Service Canada pays the CPP retirement pension, CPP benefits, OAS, the Guaranteed Income Supplement and the Allowance on the same dates each month.
When will I get my first CPP payment?
Your first payment arrives on the regular payment date in the month your pension starts, as long as your application has been approved. Apply several months ahead so there is no gap.
Is CPP taxable?
Yes. CPP is taxable income reported on a T4A(P) slip. Tax is not withheld automatically, but you can ask Service Canada to deduct tax from each payment.
Does CPP go up every year?
CPP payments are indexed to the Consumer Price Index each January, so they generally rise with inflation. The 2026 maximum at 65 is $1,507.65 a month.
